What does a head-bobbing, marimba-playing robot have in common with the ZOOZbeat app?

Both new musical instruments were the brain-child of ZOOZ Mobile, Inc. Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Gil Weinberg who is also the Founder and Director of the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology and both new musical instruments were featured in CNN stories.

“The ad might read, ‘Percussionist wanted, preferably marimba player, for jazz-influenced band. Must be able to improvise, bob head and wear metal,” writes CNN Reporter Valerie Streit in her April 29, 2010 story. “And the perfect candidate? It may be Shimon, a marimba-playing robot that, despite having four arms, is remarkably human. It has a shiny aluminum-steel head that bobs with the music and acknowledges other people when they’re nearby.”

And, when the new ZOOZbeat app launched in October 2009, CNN Reporter John Sutter wrote: “The iPhone’s accelerometer, which allows users to control apps by titling the phone, makes the ZOOZbeat app possible, said [Dr.] Gil Weinberg, director of the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology and founder of ZOOZbeat.”

The CNN stories feature video of ‘Shimon’ - the head-bobbing, marimba-playing robot and the ZOOZbeat app.

The sale of iPhones and iTunes apps downloads are a huge success. We want to leverage Apple’s success to enable even more ZOOZbeat Musicians - like you - to remix music on the go.

In just the last three months, Apple sold almost 9 million iPhones. “Revenue for the phones made up 40% of Apple’s total business,” according to The Wall Street Journal (4/21/10). “Apple said sales from its iTunes store hit a record $1.1 billion [in the first quarter 2010] due to strong demand for music, video and iPhone apps.”

Since you have both the ZOOZbeat Music reCreation Studio app - and an iPhone or iPod Touch - you can appreciate how ZOOZbeat on an iPhone or iPod Touch can enable everyone, anywhere, to creatively express themselves musically - easily through gesture.

ZOOZbeat Would Like Your Help (Please)

And, while various versions of ZOOZbeat have been downloaded more than 1.4 million times, we would like to dramatically increase the number of ZOOZbeat Musicians in the next 60 days - way beyond 1.4 million.

Because the more ZOOZbeat-enabled musicians, the more likely artists and record labels will want to offer their beats through the ZOOZbeat In-App Store. The more Artists and beats: the more opportunities for you to remix music with the ZOOZbeat app. So, free can be great for everyone!

Please let your family and friends know that the ZOOZbeat app is free now through June 29, 2010 on the Apple iPhone or iPod Touch. And, thanks for ZOOZin’ and sharing your reCreated song at: ZOOZbeat.com.

ZooZBeat 1.1 submitted

Posted: December 2nd, 2008 | Author: admin | Filed under: ZooZBeat | Tags: , | No Comments »

We’ve just submitted an update for ZooZBeat to Apple.  Answering wide popular demand from our users and iTunes reviewers we have added three major revisions to this FREE update:

  • Synchronized voice recording (not available for iPod Touch) - press “Record” while on the microphone track and start recording your voice immediately! You can synchronize your recording to the playback (using headphones) or to a click track (using the speaker). We also fixed the “alien voice” effect experienced by some of our users. Your voice will now play back clearly now without distortion.
  • Accurate note entry - tilt your iPhone or iPod Touch to landscape orientation to accurately enter notes in our new widescreen grid view.
  • Disable shake/tilt function - listen to your music without unintended interruptions.

Here’s a screenshot of the new landscape-oriented edit mode:

Please bear with us until the update is approved.
